Brian R. O'Halloran
Born : Dowlais
Resides : Burlington Ontario Canada
I remember when Miss Claudia James, the conductor of the orchestra asked Mr Cliff Bale (Woodwork) if she could borrow a drum for a performance of 'Carmen'. He asked me to go to the Air Cadets hut and get a drum and bring it to school. I did this and when Miss James saw me she told me to stand at the back of the orchestra and play it.
I tried to explain that I played the bugle not a drum, but she would not listen and I found myself playing in an orchestra for the first and last time. The best part of this experience was that I saw my future wife for the first time. Doroyhy Small was singing then and she is still singing now. We have been happily married for over 50 years and now live in Canada. Because of her involvement with Opera Ontario, a professional opera company, I became a non singing actor called a 'super'.
