Dorothy O'Halloran (nee Small)
Resides : Burlington Ontario Canada
What I remember most about my years at Castle school was the music. The choir led by Miss Lewis (Geography) became the centre and joy of my life. As soon as I joined she had me singing duets with Eirfron Morgan in school concerts. We used to have practices on Saturdy mornings and I would meet Eirfron at the Quar Gate of the Park and we would sing at the top of our voices all the way to school.
The Orchestra, led by Miss Claudia James was incredible, and looking back at the range of pieces they played, I am amazed. My enduring love of Classical music was nurtured there and it has never dimmed. Although my chosen career was teaching Home Economics. I kept singing.
When we emigrated to Canada I joined a Professional Opera Company and sang in the Chorus as well as teaching fulltime. Although I am retired now I still sing in the chorus. Thanks to Cyfarthfa.
