Marion Canfield Evans
Resides : Neston Cheshire

I was at Cyfarthfa from 1948 - 56 ending up as Head Girl.
I followed my brothers; Dr RG Evans and Captain Clifford Evans, my sister-in law and her sister, Mairwen and Eifron Morgan. There are some teachers who helped form my life. Miss Jones (French)
Mr Whitney; Miss Williams (History) Bernard Jenkins (English) and 'Flash' (Headmaster 1954 56)
The most memorable aspects were the Eisteddfodau; I took both Junior and Senior choirs to win and won the 'Chair' in 1956 after coming second at the age of 14.
Since then I have become a teacher & Head of Department in English and Theatre Arts and a lead examiner in "Shakespeare and Drama" I have also worked for the Royal Opera House, The English Theatre Company, British Dance Drama and in a Speilberg film.
Now I enjoy my daughters and their families who live nearby. My four grandchildren are affectionate and articulate. I still take Shakespeare workshops at their schools.
I am still a committed Christian and I have had a happy and fulfilling life, enjoying experimental cookery and entertaining in my retirement. Thank you Cyfarthfa for the stimulation, motivation and 'literature'.

1984 - MBE
1992 - Freedom of Merthyr Tydfil
1996 - Order ST John
1997 - Fellow of UWIC

Thankfully my life has been blessed with love and happiness apart from hard work and hard times.
