At university I met Margaret from Crickhowell who became my wife, of 50 happy years and mother to our two daughters and son.
The Navy was great fun with much sea time in foreign waters and many hair-raising runs ashore.
Moving to Derby I started the long haul up the razor wired, greasy pole. Joining the naval nuclear project team when it consisted of one man and his dog. I stayed until 1979 when it was some 1600 strong. My last project there was the Trident reactor plant.
In 1997 I was asked to form a new company to exploit our nuclear expertise commercially. It was going great guns when it was stopped for political reasons not unconnected with the 'Iron Lady'
I joined Davy in Poole in 1981 to be "near the sea". Great culture shock, but they were eight stimulating years. Since retirement I've spent a happy and blameless life in this lovely county of Dorset doing a bit of sailing, golf property maintenance and development and in particular, working to keep my 58 year old Bentley on the road, a labour of love for the last 41 years.
